Price impact guard
Thor warns you, and suggests a smaller trade, before your own buy moves the price too much.
Price impact is how much your own trade moves the price. In thin pools a big buy can push the price up so far that you pay much more than the quote you saw. Thor checks it on every trade.
How it works
When a buy is above your limit, you see High price impact: "This buy moves the price (impact %)%. Your limit is (limit %)%."
The sheet shows:
- You pay and You get ≈.
- Lost to impact ≈, what the move costs you.
- Buy (amount) instead · impact ≈(impact %)%: a smaller buy that stays near your limit.
- Buy (amount) anyway, if you accept the impact.
Set your limit
Open Trading settings → Price impact. The default is 20%. Trades with a higher impact ask you to confirm first.
Good to know
- On Solana, a buy over the limit is blocked: "Your price-impact limit blocks this buy. Buy less, or raise the limit in Trading settings."
- Sells over the limit show a similar message.
- Price impact is different from slippage. Impact is the move your own trade causes; slippage is how far the price may move before your trade lands.
Tip: On a new coin, take the Buy (amount) instead suggestion. You can always buy more once the pool is deeper.
